The mighty Tesla Coil.

Tesla Coils are anti-aircraft weapons in Destroy All Humans! They appear as enemies and will heavily damage Crypto’s Saucer. However, they will not fire at Crypto when he is using his Jetpack.

Overview[]

Tesla Coils were first developed from stolen Furon technology at the Majestic base in Area 42, and several were set up to defend the perimeter. Orthopox tasked Crypto with destroying them before laying waste to the Majestic base.

A Tesla Coil is later seen shooting down Crypto's saucer over Union Town just before the mission "Furon Down!" However, no Tesla Coils can be found in the actual area.

In Capitol City, mass-produced Tesla coils were set up to defend the city. Pox once again had Crypto destroy them from the ground to pave the way for an invasion.

In the original Destroy All Humans!, Tesla Coils were highly durable and fired a continuous stream of electricity if Crypto's saucer enters their range, rapidly damaging the Saucer's hull. In the Remake, Tesla Coils fire electrical bolts instead of a continuous stream. Additionally, they can now be used to electrocute Humans by holding them on the coil's tip using Psychokinesis.

Locations[]

Capitol City: There are multiple coils scattered around the city, with most being near important areas like the White House and Capitol Building.

Area 42: This is where the first Tesla Coils were created. There is one on every corner of the Majestic Base, near all civilised areas, and on a cliff near the Airfield entrance.

Weaknesses[]

Tesla Coils are extremely durable, requiring around five Ion Detonator hits in order to be destroyed. Despite this, the Saucer’s Quantum Deconstructor will destroy them in one blast.

In the Remake, Tesla coils are considerably more fragile, being destroyed by a couple of shots from the Sonic Boom device. Additionally, they are often connected to a console that, if destroyed or disabled, will take down the Tesla Coil.

Trivia[]

  • Although they do not appear in the sequel, Destroy All Humans! 2 features a building with the same general function, the Blisk Tower.
  • Tesla Coils are named after the real-life inventor and electrical pioneer, Nikola Tesla.
