A wide variety of species inhabit the Destroy All Humans! series universe, though not all of them are known by name. There are, however, four main species encountered in the games that play major roles in each one.

  • Furons: The Furons are the playable species, with Cryptosporidium and Orthopox belonging to this species. The Furons have an Empire, which is known to stretch thousands of worlds and contains countless species enslaved by them. They are extremely intelligent, possessing an immensely advanced and powerful technology that gives them an edge over almost anyone they encounter. The sole exception seems to have been the Martians, or Blisk, whose ferocity and strength was that resulted in the Furons developing the nuclear weaponry that ultimately left their species without genitalia and thus dependent on cloning to survive.
  • Humans: The Humans are the inhabitants of the planet Earth, and also the salvation of the Furon race. Due to Furon soldiers running rampant while blowing off steam following the destruction of Mars, every human possesses a strand of pure Furon DNA large humans are weak and stupid, easily manipulated by other species. But when unified in a cause against one of them, they can provide a potent threat.
  • Blisk: Somewhere between lobsters and cockroaches, the Blisks hail from the planet of Mars. Once targeted by the Furon for conquest, they managed to resist their invaders for some time before eventually being driven to near-extinction. The sole survivors were aboard a wayward ship, which drifted through space until it eventually crash landed on Earth in Tunguska, Siberia. Assuming human form, they hid amongst the population of humans until they could manipulate them into rebelling against the Russian Empire to form the Soviet Union. Every leader of the Soviet Union, from Lenin to Khrushchev (with the sole exception of Trotsky) was actually a Blisk in disguise. They planned to wipe out humanity with nuclear weapons, deliberately causing the Cold War to encourage their proliferation, so that they could turn Earth into their new world given Mars was gone. This plot was foiled when they attempted to eliminate Crypto and Pox, revealing themselves and causing the Furon to destroy them once and for all.
  • Nexos: The Nexos are a mysterious species that may or may not be a form of cybernetically enhanced Furon. Their precise origins are unknown, but they were once utilized in a plot to assassinate the Furon Emperor, Meningitis. In the wake of this conspiracy failing, the Emperor appropriated them to be his private guard in secret while publically claiming they had been wiped out. They would later be used again in a gambit against the Emperor when one of the conspirators, The Master, used them to frame Meningitis as being behind a secret plot to get rid of Crypto and Pox, as well as manufacturing synthetic Furon DNA that would render their entire operation on Earth pointless.
