- "My... brain... hurts!"
- ―A Psi Mutant’s Thought.
Psi Mutants were an enemy encountered by Crypto in Destroy All Humans! and its Remake.
History[]
Psi Mutants were Majestic agents who had been mutated by "a dash of Furon DNA.” The original DNA sample was acquired from Crypto 136, who had been experimented on after he crashed his Saucer into a US military base.
Besides their newfound mental powers, Psi Mutants exhibited several physical mutations, such as bulging craniums and pitch-black eyes. In the Remake, these physical mutations are far more pronounced, making them resemble Furon-Human hybrids. It was also revealed in the Furon Handbook that all Psi Mutants were clones.
Freshly created Psi Mutants were being researched and trained at Area 42 until Crypto destroyed Majestic’s laboratory and the information it housed about them.
After their introduction at the Area 42 Majestic Base, Psi Mutants were commonly seen patrolling Area 42, Union Town, and Capitol City.
Powers & Abilities[]
- "HUMANS using Furon powers?!?"
- ―Crypto.
Psi Mutants didn't carry weapons like other Majestic agents, but had mental abilities that drained Crypto's Concentration Meter (his Psychokinetic Energy). The cost of those powers was apparently a severe reduction in the Psi Mutant's brain power and communication skills. Indeed, even thinking appeared to cause them pain.
Three potent abilities were possessed by the Psi Mutants;
- Psychic Wave 1: A blast of green energy that didn't hurt Crypto, but disabled all his PK for a short time.
- Psychic Wave 2: Had the same PK effect as Wave 1, but instead went in all directions and could also hurt Crypto.
- Shield: This wasn't an attack, but rendered the Psi Mutant virtually invincible for a short period of time.
In the Remake, Psi Mutants' only ability is to create a psychic blast at a target location on the ground. This blast deals damage to Crypto' shields, as the Remake has no Concentration Meter. Additionally, they cannot be Cortex Scanned and are immune to Crypto’s Psychokinesis, and cannot be Brain Extracted until killed. While they no longer possess the ability to shield themselves, Psi Mutants have much higher health than other human enemies (over double the health of a Majestic agent). They are also the only enemy to drop a DNA brain of a different value being 50 when probed.
