Crypto's Shield taking damage
Crypto's shields are a widely overlooked importance. Without a shield to stop bullets, Crypto wouldn't last very long. Damage toward Crypto doesn't go to his health, but an invisible, orb-like shield that covers him. If Crypto's shield drop to zero, he'll be vulnerable, and a few good shots will kill him, but it can always regenerate its health if Crypto avoids fire for a while. The shield seems to be somehow connected with Crypto, as he seems to feel pain when his shield is damaged. After being damaged, Crypto's shields will flash red, whe the shields are regenerating, they'll briefly glow green.
Upgrades[]
In most games, Crypto can upgrade his shields like he would with his weapons, increasing the total damage it can take.

Shield Pickups[]
A green shield pickup in Destroy All Humans!
While very uncommon, there are a few times in the series where Crypto can obtain shield pickups that replenish his shield instantly, In Destroy All Humans! , there are sometimes green glowing disks that do as such, placed usually in high-intensity areas to help Crypto in emergency situations.
A shield pickup in DAH! CDV
In the now removed mobile game, Destroy All Humans! Crypto Does Vegas, There are blue versions of this pickup that look identical in shape, but have a different function. In this game, Crypto doesn't have a shield, one well shot bullet will kill him instantly, but by picking up one of these, Crypto can have an extra hit.
