Cortex Scan was the first ability that Crypto learned in Destroy All Humans!

Cortex Scan was the power to read the minds of any nearby Humans and learn their Thoughts. Crypto could even scan Animals, though primitive creatures such as cows and chickens could only moo or cluck.
In Destroy All Humans! 2, it was revealed that Crypto could also scan the thoughts of other aliens, such as the Blisk. However, the ability to read minds could only be used while Crypto was in a Snatched body.
